Music hook-up: Gotye

Gotye is my recent music hook-up.

I first heard his music from Gossip Girl Season 2 Episode 23, the ending part.

Felt so curious about his electric extraordinaire vocal, i browsed and found "Gotye". The name's very unusual, very European; sounds like "Gaultier" in French with a false writing.

Again, i looked up for his music on youtube to connect to his enchanting song, Heart's a Mess; the music video was also very 'semiotic' - symbolic and such. Listen to it carefully, close your eyes... you mind will be drawn into some kind of alternate realm where everything is both odd and soothing, especially when you get to the short yet crisp harp playing. He combined the instruments beautifully, strengthen with his unique vocalization. A solid touch indeed.

Here's what i dig from Wikipedia about Gotye:
Wouter De Backer (born 21 May 1980). Born in Belgium and then raised in Australia, Walter (as he is more commonly called) has been making music since his teens, first in moody local rock band Downstares, a fixture at underage shows in the North-East suburbs of Melbourne for a few years. When that band dissolved Wally started focusing on his solo project, cut'n'paste tunes that eventually would come under the moniker of 'Gotye'. (Dutch pronunciation: [ɡoːtijeː]).

He's cool. and talented. multi-talented. and i instantly love him.
And since love and happiness are only real when shared, i shall share his musics here.

Being Single and Happy (?)

Di antara semaraknya lagu-lagu cinta dengan hasrat kerinduan mendalam akan datangnya sang pujaan hati dan gaung lagu-lagu kepedihan dan tekad bulat perselingkuhan yang saling jegal satu sama lain di Indonesia, bertiuplah angin segar yang menyeruak di tengah beban asmara yang selalu mewek dan berlebihan. Angin segar itu bersenandung dengan suara khas Oppie Andaresta, dengan lagu terbarunya "Single Happy".

Betapa bahagianya saya karena, untuk sesekali, orang-orang yang tidak memiliki pasangan bisa dengan bangga mengatakan, "i'm single and very happy", instead of "gue jomblo" yang menurut saya kesannya begitu depresif dan desperate.

Penasaran dengan lirik dan video klipnya? Saya punya.
Sayangnya, video klip Oppie kurang membumi, kurang menonjolkan public figure yang jelas-jelas memilih untuk menjadi single [ya teman, BEING SINGLE IS AN OPTION] dan bisa berbahagia dengan hidupnya. Cameo yang tampil di video clip tersebut hanya Okky Lukman dan Ivan Gunawan. Sisanya tetap dipenuhi oleh model-model cantik indonesia yang (maaf) tentu saja tidak mungkin memilih menjadi single. Kurang menohok, menurut saya.

Anyway, it's a nice and easy listening song. Layaknya lagu Natasha Bedingfield, salah satu penyanyi wanita favorit saya, yang menyerukan kata "Single" secara lantang!

Peter Pan, it's time to grow up!

Minggu malam, setelah menghabiskan wiken saya di karawaci bersama ck, rb, dd, dan yanto dan kekasihnya, saya pulang dan menyalakan televisi.

Klak, klik, klak, klik.
Then suddenly my eyes were fixed to an image of a man, wearing a wet white shirt, with his hypnotizing eyes and hypnotizing voice. ARIEL, tak lain dan tak bukan! Entah kenapa sosok Ariel saat itu begitu... menggugah! ;p hahahahahaha

PeterPan, yang katanya merupakan super band di Indonesia, menggelar konser terakhirnya di pantai karnaval Ancol minggu malam kemarin. Konser terakhir karena setelah ini mereka akan berganti nama. Saya biasanya biasa-biasa saja sama Peterpan, well... walaupun seringnya suka ngiler sendiri klo ngeliat Ariel hahahaha. Tapi konser pamungkas mereka itu memang benar-benar bagus! Saya bukan berbicara mengenai visual, lighting, ataupun tata panggung yang standard ala Indonesia. Saya berbicara mengenai kualitas - performa dan musikalitas yang tinggi dari Peterpan :)


Bintang tamu-nya juga pentolan-pentolan yang top saat ini. Ada Pasha "Ungu" [uhm.. he's alrite, but i dont really like his songs. Too... ordinary], Giring "Nidji" [he's great, man! keren lah pas duet sama Ariel], Ryan "dMasiv" [original!], dan yang paling ok ada Iwan Fals! Mantaaafffff lah pokoknya. Walopun nonton siaran langsung konsernya Peterpan sambil klak klik liat channel tipi laen, tetap saja konser ini patut diacungi jempol! MANTAFFF!


Ada satu scene yang memorable menurut saya. Saat Ariel menyanyikan lagu BINTANG DI SURGA seakan-akan dia menangis dalam kamuflase keringat yang bercucuran.



Saya rasa sih dia nanggis beneran... Lalu ia berlutut di tengah panggung, membelakangi penonton tetap sambil bernyanyi. Pada akhir lagu, Ariel merebahkan diri seolah pingsan dan terlelap. Saat kamera mengambil gambar dari atas, terlihat image Ariel terbaring di antara 2 sayap yang merupakan lambang peterpan. As if he's a fallen angel. NICE TOUCH!

Our daily lives is filled with love songs - the all-time-greatest ones, the super duper cheesy ones, the bad-but-got-stuck-in-your-head-all-the-time ones, the sexy ones, the teenage-kind-of-cute ones, and so on, and so on.

Love songs are itchy.. yet inevitable. We human can't avoid it; it's human nature to love love songs - it's the air the we breathe, it's the food that we eat. It's contagious!

Should we surrender to its power and be mellow and mushy all the time? HA! NO!
We may love love songs. But there's nothing wrong with mocking them, too.

Siapa mau "Belah Duren"?

Pertama kali denger lagu ini pas otw ke Uge, di mobilnya si Yanto. Rada-rada setengah pusing setengah ngakak setengah berhalusinasi, maklum aja... dengerinnya tengah malem sambil dikocok-kocok perutnya di mobil ngebut di jalanan berkelok-kelok ha ha ha ha

Didenger-denger... musiknya Dangdut House abis, suaranya Jupe yang rada-rada mendesah basah... jadi penasaran ini video klipnya kaya apa yah. Bener-bener super temptation buat orang-orang yang lagi puasa bulan lalu! Pertamanya masih rada-rada gak nyambung apa maksutnya "belah duren" *wajah polos* Tapi setelah diperagakan gerakannya sama cowo-cowo sepetualangan Uge barulah saya mengerti wahahahahahhahahaha

I met Ulms, and Diana Krall, and Edric!

Tired, still.
Spent the whole day sleeping and sleeping and sleeping. Yet somehow my energy can not be well-restored! ha! Well, un-restored energy doesn't really keep me from going to Senci to meet Ulmie and Goldie hehehehe

Haven't met Ulmie for 2 years now, since she is still living in NL. She looked good, happy, and - she said this herself - gain a lil weight during her 3 weeks stay in Indo. She brought her bf, Iko si anak gaoool hahaha, who is apparently Sita's friend, too. We ate and chatted for approximately 3 hours there. It was a good catch-up :)

I skipped church the following morning, a thing that made my mom so furious. Well, i prefer sleeping in my own bed than sleeping in the middle of a mass. Doh! Am still in Uge after effect anyway; am not ready to go back to church >:)

So went back to sleep again. and again. and again. I forced myself to wake up and get prepared for Diana Krall's Concert in Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Pasific Place Jakarta :D [Lengkap tuh informasinya!] I adooooooore Diana Krall!

I got goosebumps when she got on to the stage. Golda and I [oh yeah, I watched the concert with Goldie and we accidentally met Natnat] got the middle row there, enjoyed every bit of the superb jazz performance! Oh how i ENVY those who got the platinum tickets for they might get the chance to have a cocktail after party with Diana Krall!!! Kya! I spotted several celebrities watching the concert, too.

Edric!! YES i spotted Edric. He walked pass me after the show. I was so stunned i couldn't say a word. And Goldie was not very helpful as she didn't really recognize Edric. Auw... he was so... uhm.. cute? Uhm cute is not the right word. He was so Edric! Sukaaaaaaaaa! Hope I can met you again, uhm maybe in Gading :P Ah, saya suka Edric.

And now i'm hungry again. I'll grab something, anything, to eat before crashing. Ciao!

Trouble sleeping

Here's what i do this weekend!

* Attend a friend's wedding. Lala is my friend back from high school in Jogja. I went there with Shirley [pake acara nyasar-nyasar dikit] and met some other friends. Selamat menempuh hidup baru, lala!

* Grocery shopping and cleaning up! cleaning up here means gardening [baca: menyiram kembang :P] and ironing two big basket full of clothes! hahahahah.. it's been a while since i did those kind of chorus.

* Cook!!! So i cooked asparagus soup and spicy tuna fusilli ^^ and some other insignificant stuffs. I still want to cook Paella and Risotto yumyum
[update: Monday, September 1 - i stupidly forgot to bring my fusilli. Padahal ini udah masuk puasa, mo beli makanan di mana coba!]

* Browsing, sending stuffs to people. Take a look at Agnes Monica's newest clip Godai Aku Lagi. Some drools in awe, some ignores, some comments. I personally think the clip is a little bit provocative considering that it is released close to Ramadhan time in Indonesia.

Hujan di Jakarta, pertanda banjir?

Sampai di rumah, agak sedikit kehujanan.
Baju sebelah kiri basah terkena rembesan air hujan dari atap bus. Mau bilang apa, bayar 2500 perak kok minta kendaraan yang oke?

Langsung menyantap nasi goreng bikinan bapak langganan di belakang rumah. Maklum, males masak, berhubung mama juga lagi gak ada di rumah [entah kapan mau pulang dari Medan]. Minum teh hangat super manis, lumayan untuk menghilangkan sakit kepalaku. Dari tadi siang memang penglihatan mengabur [lihat dison jadi titik blurry, kok kliatannya tambah cantik lol], jalan agak miring-miring sedikit, mungkin tekanan darahku drop lagi.

Jakarta hujan, banjir lagi...

I just got off the phone with Sher. Stuck in the office, she said.
Ga bisa pulang gara-gara jalan depan kantor banjir [jalan sudirman depan atmajaya]. Di tambah lagi rumahnya ikutan kebanjiran! Stress lah dia, ada laptop dan komputer yang penuh data yang terendam di sana. Hm... apa mau dikata kalau musim hujan datang lebih awal, kalau siklus banjir di jakarta jadi sebulan sekali, kalau orang-orang penghuni jakarta tetap tidak peduli akan kebersihan kota, kalau dalam jangka waktu 50 - bahkan mungkin 20 - tahun ke depan jakarta akan terendam lautan layaknya amsterdam?

This morning i saw Kenny G's unplugged videos, he's doing duets with several singers. I kind of recognize the partner... hum... Li Hong? [read: Lee Hom - English version] My guess were right! Kyaaa he's so freaking talented! I'm a BIG Wang Lee Hom fan.
Next, Kenny G called another talented singer. this time it's from Indonesia. Guess who? Glenn Fredly! I'm also a BIG Glenn Fredly fan. Kutunggu dudamu!!!
Thus, I was content :)

Ngiler ngeliat vanness? saya juga!

B told me that Vanness grows beard! and it's awful!

So i check on one of his vclip on youtube Fading Into You/我不是自己 and wait. Loading...........
There he is. All muscle and very yummy! Such an eye candy for me :P

But wait a minute. Gosh! Then i saw the beard! NO NO NO! He's too cute for beard! what is it that he's trying to prove? that he's a man? Lol.. I love you Vanness... but please please please get rid of that stupid beard. Kesannya itu jenggot bo'ongan banget sih, kaya tempelan.

LOL Coffee Prince LOL

Yes. So I spent my weekend watching "Coffee Prince", a Korean drama series i found lying on my sister's desk. I had no idea that it turned out to be interesting, a little provocative, and quite hilarious :D

1. First thing first. The male main characters are irresistible. Sexy stubborn vs. Mature musical. hmm.. which one do you choose? Well the sexy stubborn character.. what's his real name again? *checking the net*.. Gong Yoo, reminds me a little of Zach Braff hehe that's what drew me into Gong Yoo, and also because of the ridiculously sensual introduction scene of his character.

2. A sudden appearance of a Japanese guy among the Korean. The cool calm confident Sun Ki. Like him even more when he did his hair up.

3. The "Choi Han Sung" character with his versatile musicality... especially when he sang "Ocean Travel". Yes, i would definitely fall for musicians!

4. The fact that the series use varieties of western song is quite surprise me...

5. Along came the "You and Me Song" by the Wannadies! *shocked* The song always brings good happy memories to me. blablabla, yes darling, it always makes me smile a little (or cry a little) while my mind comes to think of you.

6. Along came "Where's Your Head at?" by Basement Jaxx!!! *blank* This song makes me smile and dance too, i wont tell you why hahahaha

So I got to episode 11/12, i forgot, when i finally have to crash.
I'll continue watching it soon.

Java Jazz hype!

Asik2 kesampean nonton Java Jazz, with a different crowd this year. Nonton sama Golda, Andy, and Cris. Eeeeeeeeeh tiba-tiba K'Lisa nongol juga. Jadilah kita berlima kaya power ranger. Lumayan seru sih. Area Senayan super rame. cari parkirnya syusah banget. But then again, i was not really my problem - i was not the one who's driving :P

Nungguin golda ama cris dateng lambreta bambang dari Plaza Senayan... auw i miss some show because i had all of their tickets (!) And to my amazement, Golda masih sempet-sempetnya ke GEREJA (well, it was Sunday evening...). ccck... cck... Salut juga.

So I watched Dhaffer Yousef (kewl intrumental and worldy music!) out of my curiousity, Renee Olstead and Ron King Big Band (she's quite famous here), Japanese quartet called Jammin Zeb feat. Andien (they are lovely.. I got the front seat and their CD - thanks to Andy), Tribute to Frank Sinatra performance (where Golda sang most of the songs), a glimpse of Bubi Chen (the show was almost over, anyway), and Omar Sosa (where we finally chilled out).

I also accidentally bumped into my senior in high school, Dewi, while we were trying to get some food... Finally! After every other people bumped into every other people. Golda bumped into her old workmates; Andy bumped into lots of people, esp girls he know. Haha, what can i say.. that's Andy.

Overall, the evening was nice. The crowd was nice.

I opened Youtube page and the "Spider-Pig song" video caught my eye. The movie's goooooooooooooood. And that ugly spider-pig song Homer sang badly (I'm sure he's not gonna make it to American Idol's audition!), is extremely loveable!

Menghapus jejakmu

Ada lagu baru dari Peterpan. Judulnya MENGHAPUS JEJAKMU. Bisa dibilang klo lagu ini jadi lagu perjuangan baru buat orang2 yang lagi patah hati gara2 ditinggal pacar dll.

Lirik lagu ini sih realitis kok, gak mengada-ada, gak gombal juga.
Sederhana dan apa adanya.

Tapi setelah ditelusurin dan didengerin baek2 and berulang2, of course, gue punya hipotesa baru. Ada kemungkinan klo lagu ini dibikin and ditujukan buat awak2 peterpan yang sekarang udah bikin band baru.

Lagu ini jadi mengingatkan gue pada lagunya Robbie Williams (SUPERB CONCERT, btw) yang judulnya No Regrets. Lagu itu sebenernya gambaran emosi Robbie buat temen2nya dulu di Take That. There was no regret in leaving them and having a solo career (which turns out to be very very very successful).

Friendship and career in showbiz can become quite dangerous, huh?

It's because this morning bea told me that John Mayer's concert is around the corner. will be on ovtober 17, 2006, in Melkweg. and it's gonna be ONLY 20euros.
I was soooo excited, both to see him playing live in front of my eyes and to throw stuffs (tomatos, lettuces, and all rotten vegies) to jesicca simpson for getting her way with john!

Then... few hours later... bea texted me again: "SOLD OUT!" two most heartbreaking words in the world of concert! That really makes my day gloom, even though it's totally warm outside - makes me wanna sit in the park and do nothing.
